How to Shop the Made in Hawaii Festival

Get set...get ready...it’s almost here! One of our favorite Honolulu events is right around the corner.

The 2021 annual Made in Hawaii Festival is almost here and we couldn’t be more excited!

This will be our 5th year going and we’ve had a blast every time we’ve gone. We meet so many awesome people and have the chance to share our talents as well as see what creative things others have going on. We’re excited to see you there this year!

What Is the Made in Hawaii Festival?

In case you have no idea what we’re talking about, let’s talk about what the Made in Hawaii Festival is.

In 1995, the Hawaii Food Industry Association held the first Made in Hawaii Festival. The non-profit’s goal was to help local small businesses not just survive but thrive.

The festival gives entrepreneurs a chance to enjoy strong sales as well as exposure in the local community. Hundreds of people come to the festival each year eager to see what’s new and support local businesses and artists in their endeavors.

There’s always something new and exciting to discover at the event. From uniquely flavored sea salts that will elevate your dining experience to handmade, chemical-free candles, soaps, and bath products, there is so much to explore!

Why You Should Go to the Festival

Some of you are getting excited already, we can tell. But others might need some convincing.

Is it worth it to brave the traffic in Honolulu to come to this exciting event?

Absolutely! And we’re going to tell you why.

The festival is built on the premise of supporting small businesses (like us!) and our local community. All of the vendors at the festival are making their products here on the islands. They’re providing jobs and showing up in the community in ways that big businesses simply can’t.

Furthermore, as much as possible, vendors source their materials from right here on the islands. Thus, when you purchase their products, you’re supporting more than one local business. Plus, in the food items, you’re getting the freshest, highest-quality ingredients offered by the islands!

Okay, that’s great, but what’s in it for you?

You get direct access to the best products on the islands all in one place!
Plus, every year many new up-and-coming vendors come to the festival. Even vendors who have been coming for years often time their new product launches to coincide with the event. By attending the Festival, you get the first look at their amazing products and the first opportunity to buy. Instead of jumping on a trend, you’ll be the one setting the trends after the event!

Many businesses use the opportunity to test products as well. That means you get to offer your opinion on certain products and help entrepreneurs develop new products just the way you like them!

When and Where it Will Be Held

This year, the Festival will take place November 11-14 so it’s right around the corner! Thursday through Saturday, the event will be open 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Sunday, doors open at 10:00 AM but will be closing early at 5:00 PM.
The event will be held outdoors at the Ala Moana Center. Don’t worry, it will be shady and covered so you don’t have to worry about melting in the hot sun!

What Will Be There for Sale?

There is so much to see and buy at the Festival — that’s what makes it so much fun! Delicious foods, spices, beverages, crafts, art, bath and beauty products, candles, and many more locally-made products appear at the event. This year the timing is perfect for the holidays which makes it even better!

Of course, we’ll be there so don’t forget to stop by and see us! Foterra Jewelry is setting up shop at booth #1077 and we have several pieces we’re excited to bring to the event this year.

Take the ocean with you wherever you go with this set of Lanikai - Island Earrings made from an image by Fotographer Frank Silva. The deep blue ocean collides with a beautiful blue sky with the silhouette of the islands sandwiched in between.

We’re also super excited to introduce our new line of budget-friendly slide bracelets. The adjustable bracelets feature a circular image attached to a colored nylon cord. They are great to wear alone or stack a few on your wrist so you can wear all your favorites at once!

Finally, we’ll be bringing pieces from our limited-run rainbows and raindrops collection. These pieces are ONLY available for the holidays and we have a limited supply of materials. Once we sell out, they’re gone. So take advantage and buy your favorites ASAP! You might not get another chance!
